The famous manufacturer of high-quality chainsaws and garden tools, Andreas Stihl, uses Consignor when they ship goods to customers in the Nordics. Read here, how they benefit from this and how Consignor meets their delivery management needs.
At Andreas Stihl‘s Nordic central warehouse in Stenkullen near Gothenburg in Sweden, the pallets are stacked with goods packed in black plastic ready for pick-up at the warehouse.
“Earlier we used transparent plastic, but unfortunately we experienced a lot of theft. Therefore, we have to use black plastic,” explains IT Manager Peter Hermansson, as he shows us around the warehouse in Stenkullen.
Andreas Stihl‘s products are coveted and of high quality, and the brand is synonymous with top-level technology all over the world. It was also high quality and professionalism, which was the reason why Peter Hermansson chose Consignor as delivery management system for Andreas Stihl’s shipments in the Nordics.
“Our former delivery management system could not handle our requirements. We needed a system that was professional and a complete concept that could show us statistics and invoices on our shipments, and that could be implemented immediately. All this was possible with Consignor,” says Peter Hermansson and describes what benefits Andreas Stihl experiences by using Consignor:
“We can now notify customers about their goods through track & trace, and we can easily keep track of shipping costs with all the available data and statistics in Consignor Portal. Earlier we wrote freight labels for our dangerous goods shipments by hand, but with Consignor we automatically print these labels, saving us 2-3 minutes in processing time per order, and if you have 50 dangerous goods shipments a day, this is big savings. In short, our delivery is more stable and professional with Consignor. ”
It is Andreas Stihl‘s batteries for garden tools that are classified as dangerous goods shipments and therefore subject to special shipping rules in relation to other shipments.
How Andreas Stihl uses Consignor
Andreas Stihl has Consignor On-premises integrated to their ERP system Navision, which means that Consignor acts as a sort of “black box” behind Navision. In this way, employees can continue to work in systems they know, but with access to all of Consignor’s features. Andreas Stihl uses these features in particular:
- print freight labels for regular and dangerous goods shipments.
- automatic transfer of shipping data to carriers.
- access to track & trace and statistics in Consignor Portal.
- overview of shipping costs.
- sending track & trace e-mails to customers.
Andreas Stihl sends more than 100,000 shipments a year to retailers and retail chains in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland from their warehouse in Stenkullen, Sweden. Especially the Danish customers have high demands for delivery.
“The Danes have huge demands on day-to-day delivery and delivery on time, where the other countries are more relaxed. However, this is no problem, because with Consignor we deliver on time,” Peter Hermansson concludes.
