When being a leading European paper merchant in paper, facility supplies and industrial packaging sending close to 500,000 parcels a year, flexibility are amongst others an important factor for a delivery management system. Papyrus accomplished that with Consignor.
”I need a hero! I’m holding out for a hero ‘til the end of the night!” Bonnie Tyler’s hoarse voice roars from the speaker on the small forklift that rushes past us at the warehouse in Gothenburg. The forklift driver’s t-shirt back print makes an impression: “Warning! Latino.”
“Their maximum speed is 13 km per hour,” Petter Skoglund reassures as we jump to the side to avoid the forklift. Petter is Logistics Director at Papyrus Supplies. He gives us a tour at Papyrus’ warehouse in Gothenburg, while he tells about the cooperation between Papyrus and Consignor. In the fall of 2014, they chose Consignor as delivery management system after a tender round of six months, where Consignor was up against other major players in the delivery industry.
“The decisive thing about Consignor was that it was a total solution. It was simple to connect with SAP and there was a match between our needs and the various functions of the Consignor platform,” says Petter Skoglund.
”It is about quality in deliveries”
Papyrus demanded simple administration, reduced costs and a modern, integrated and scalable solution in their request for a new system. According to Petter Skoglund the Consignor platform fully complies with this:
”It is about quality in deliveries. The shipping process will be simpler and more professional with the Consignor platform. We can more easily track shipments, mistakes and overbilling and we are more flexible to new carriers. In short the Consignor platform increases quality, usability and the structure when working with shipments.”
Papyrus Supplies has just built a new warehouse of 18,000 sqm in the Swedish industrial town Jönköping, where other companies such as IKEA and Elgiganten also have warehouses. Consignor‘s Swedish Country Manager, Mattias Gredenhag, is excited about the collaboration with such a large European company as Papyrus.
The collaboration with Papyrus benefits Consignor’s customers
Mattias Gredenhag is in charge of the cooperation with Papyrus and sees it as a great recognition for Consignor. In addition, the partnership also has great opportunities for further development of the Consignor platform, which also benefits Consignor’s other customers.
“Together with Papyrus, we will continue to develop the Consignor platform and create better solutions for all of our customers, thus making the co-operation a common development for both Papyrus and Consignor. It’s the power of standardized solutions,” Mattias Gredenhag explains.
Alongside the warehouse in Jönköping the Consignor platform is also set up to Papyrus‘ warehouse in Germany, where the potential for development is huge. The depertment in Germany has not previously had delivery management systems. With the Consignor platform they will be more flexible to new carriers in Germany than in the past. Mattias Gredenhag is excited to follow Papyrus‘ development in Germany.
Back at the warehouse in Gothenburg many forklifts have driven past us and played everything from hard rock to sweet pop music, while the forklift drivers concentrate on their work. It is clear that they are busy at the warehouse, which underlines Petter Skoglund’s need for a simple, flexible and functional delivery management system.
