Automation and focus is the secret behind online shop’s impressive growth – Rito.dk

In just two years the online yarn shop Rito.dk has increased sales by over 600%. Here is an insight into 26-year-old Dennis Drejer’s popular online shop, where every detail is carefully thought through and everything is automated. Because when you sell yarn, it is the least of margins you earn money on.

“Our picking carts are specially designed with a wheel in the middle, so we can easily turn corners at the warehouse. Soon we also put light on the shelves, so the warehouse employees quickly are able to see which box to choose when picking items, ” Dennis Drejer explains, while he gives a guided tour at Rito’s warehouse in Skive, Denmark.

Nothing is left to chance at Rito. Dennis Drejer’s knowledge of how to run an online shop is impressive. The thorough work is also reflected in Rito’s growth. Rito.dk has since its start in 2014 increased the shipment volume to today, where they send many thousands parcels each month.

“An average e-commerce order is between 80 and 100 EUR, but our average orders are significantly lower. This means that we at Rito.dk have to run twice as fast to make money. We make money on the least of margins. Therefore, we keep an eye on everything, such as time spent on phone calls and emails, picking and packing time etc. We automate everything. My goal does not involve funding from investors like many entrepreneurs focus on. My focus is to make money all the time, so my employees can get paid, ” says Dennis Drejer.

Because of Dennis Drejer’s goal on continuously making money, he also thinks in long-term and sustainable solutions when investing in new systems for Rito.

Choose automation from the beginning

Time is a factor for an entrepreneur, which is why Dennis Drejer chose Consignor as the software system for handling Rito’s shipments. Dennis Drejer is not resting on his success and is already well underway with starting a Norwegian Rito online shop, because the Norwegians have shown great interest in yarn from Rito.dk.

“We are already sending 5-10 parcels a day to Norway. Therefore, Norway will be our next market, but we continue to have the warehouse and office here in Skive. In terms of shipping, it is easy for us to expand with a Norwegian online shop. We just have to make an extra check mark in Consignor, and we are ready. We actually don’t think about Consignor here at Rito. Consignor is just there and it works. Consignor means fewer worries, when you are a relatively new business like Rito. That’s what Consignor does for us, ” Dennis Drejer concludes.
